There are many different ways to manage interlibrary loan and document delivery requests. The Interlibrary Loan and Document Delivery Benchmarking Study reported "automation was a decisive factor in every performance criterion". This section outlines some of the systems available for managing interlibrary loan and document delivery requests.

ILL/DD Systems - there are a number of system currently being used in Australia to manage interlibrary loan and document delivery requests. Some are stand alone systems. others are part of the Library management system.

ALEPH - has an ILL/DD module within the ALEPH library management system. The system is ISO ILL compliant and currently interoperates with LADD.

Relais - has a number of different ILL/DD systems depending on the size of the library, the number of requests processed and the complexity of the workflows. The system is ISO ILL compliant and currently interoperates with LADD. Relais International offers a number of ILL products.

VDX - is the ILL/DD system that supports LADD. The system is ISO ILL compliant and currently interoperates with Relais, VDX and ALEPH. VDX is an OCLC product.
