The Interlibrary Resource Sharing (ILRS) Code benefits Australian libraries and their users by providing greater predictability, consistency, and flexibility in obtaining materials. During 2013 the Committee sought comments from the ILL/DD community as part of the Code review.

The Committee has now completed the review of the code. The library Peak Bodies have endorsed the new Code and guidelines which will come into effect from 1 January 2014. The Code has been simplified and a new set of best practice guidelines have been developed. The intent is to separate the code from practice. The guidelines can be amended more easily as technology, issues, workflows and practices change without requiring a major review of the code.
